Being locked in a room for an hour with a bunch of puzzles in a fake prison cell is actually more exciting than it sounds. For exactly 59:06 minutes, I was breaking out of a prison cell with flashing lights, pictures of celebrity head shots, and a bunch of jumbled up numbers and letters. Room Escape Miami by Fox in a Box is a challenging, yet worth-it unique experience.
The place itself is small once you enter, but it’s got a world hidden away behind its doors.

Can you beat the success rate?
The Escape Room experience is a live game where players are locked in a room and the only way out are through clues. Pick from one of the six rooms: Bank Robbery, Abandoned Zombie Lab, Prison Break, Zodiac Serial Killer, and a Nuclear Bunker Room.
The Zodiac room seems too creepy for my taste, zombies aren’t my cup of tea. My group and I went with the Prison Break and spoiler alert we made it with a minute left.
If the challenges aren’t enough to admire about Fox in a Box, the least you can do is appreciate the attention to detail. For example, the Prison Break room is actually a decommissioned 1960’s jail cell from Iowa – talk about a real-life experience. The Zombie Room has real surgical and medical equipment from a 1960’s hospital and morgue. All of the rooms have noises and sounds to make you feel like you’re not in Miami anymore…

Here are a few more reasons why you should go:
It’s not scary at all! The music might be a little loud but there is nothing popping out at you or intentionally scaring you.
The 60 minutes’ fly by and not one second of it is boring.
Even if you have to put away your phone before you begin, you’ll still get an Insta-worthy boomerang at the end.
A staffer is monitoring you the whole time and will give you hints to nudge you in the right direction.
